The solutions for MacBook Pro horizontal lines on screen. MacBook pro model 2016 and newer will have the touch on the right side of the touch bar. On these models, touch ID is the power button.

Solution 1 : Reset your Mac

If horizontal lines appear on any side of your Mac screen, try soft restart. If you don’t have an option to soft restart, try Force restart .

Soft restart

  1. Disconnect all third-party peripheral devices like scanner, printer, webcam etc.. from your Mac.
  2. Go to Apple menu.
  3. Click “ restart”.
  4. Select “ restart” in the pop-up box to conform.
  5. Wait until your Mac restarts.

Force restart

  1. Disconnect all third-party peripheral devices like scanner, printer, webcam etc.. from your Mac.
  2. Hold down the power button until the Apple logo appears.

Solution 2 : Reset PRAM/NVRAM

  1. Shut down your Mac via Apple menu >shut down your Mac via Apple menu, hold down the power button/touch ID until your Mac turns off.
  2. Then press the power button/touch ID to turn on Mac.
  3. After pressing the power button/touch ID, immediately hold down the option +command + P + R keys at the same time.
  4. Release the keys when you hear the startup sound for the second time when your Mac restarts.  If you are using T20 security chip with your Mac, release the keys when the Apple logo appears and disappears for the second time.
  5. Wait until the Mac restarts. Sometimes, your Mac will take 15-20 minutes to restart.

Solution 3 : Restart your Mac in safe mode

  1. Shut down your Mac via Apple menu >shut down .
  2. Then press the power button to turn on Mac.
  3. After pressing the power button immediately hold down the shift key .
  4. Don’t leave the shift key when you see the Apple logo.
  5. Keep holding the shift key until the logo window appears.
  6. Select your user account and enter the password.
  7. If fail vault  is enabled, you may need to login twice.
  8. Wait until your Mac restarts.

Solution 4 : Reset SMC

SMC Reset for non-removable battery :

  1. Shut down your Mac via Apple menu >shut down .
  2. Hold down the shift+control+option+power button at the same time for 10 seconds.
  3. After 10 seconds, release the keys .
  4. To turn on your Mac, hold down the power button until the Apple logo appears.

Solution 5: SMC Reset for removable battery

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Remove the battery from your Mac.
  3. Hold down the power button for 5 seconds.
  4. Reinsert the battery into Mac.
  5. To turn on your Mac, hold down the power button until the Apple logo appears.

Solution 6 : Fix disk errors in recovery mode

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press the power button to turn on your Mac.
  3. After pressing the power button, immediately hold down the control+R keys at the same time Apple logo appears.
  4. Wait for some time macOs utilities window will appears in four options.
  5. Select “ disk utility” and then click “ continue” .
  6. Select the disk/drive that you want to fix errors for .
  7. Go to first aid> run.
  8. Click “ done” and then close disk utility.
  9. Go to Apple menu > Restart.
  10. Select “ restart” wait until the your Mac restarts.

Solution 7 : Run Apple diagnostic

  1. Disconnect all external devices accept keyboard mouse, Ethernet connection , and connection to AC power.
  2. Shut down your Mac.
  3. Press the power button to turn on your Mac.
  4. After pressing the power button, immediately hold down the D key.
  5. Keep holding the D key until you are asking to select the language.
  6. Select the language you can see the progress bar to check your Mac.
  7. If your Mac has any issues, Apple diagnostic will suggest you the solutions and you will be given the reference codes and note that codes.
  8. Do the suggestion to fix the issue.
  9. Click “ restart” to restart your Mac or click “ shut down” to turn off your Mac.

Main reason for this issue

Graphics card failure or video board failure or logic board failure .

So, go to the teh nearest Apple service centre.
