How to Change Windows 11 Refresh Rate

Changing your monitor refresh rate in Windows 11 can have an upside and a downside. For example if you are switching to a higher refresh rate you will experience smoother motion on the screen, making it ideal for playing games and watching  movies. 

However,the downside that comes with that higher refresh rate is that it consumes more power.

Which can be a big problem if you are using a laptop. No matter what your reasons are, changing the refresh rate on your Windows 11 Computer can be done quickly and easily.

Change Windows 11 Refresh Rate

Below are the steps to Change windows 11 refresh rate 

Step 1: Navigate to your Windows 11 Home Screen and then Press the “Windows” and “I” keys at the same time, then the Windows Settings screen is displayed on the screen.

Step 2: Click on the “System” in the menu on the left side of the screen and then Click on the “Display” in the  list of  options on the right side of the screen, then the display screen is shown.

Step 3: Scroll down the screen to the Related settings section, and then click on “Advanced Display.” then the advanced display screen is shown

Step 4: Click on the Drop-down in the select a display field at the top of the screen and choose the display you want to change the refresh rate for. The information for that specific display will be shown in the display information section

Step 5: Click on the drop down field in the choose a refresh rate section to see a list of available refresh rates supported by your display, and then choose what you want to be your new windows 11 refresh rate. Your monitor will start operating with the new refresh rate, 

Step 6: A POP UP will be shown asking if you want to keep these display settings.then Click on “keep changes” if you want to keep your new refresh rate.then the popup box will close and your monitor will operate with the new refresh rate going forward.

How to Increase Refresh Rate on laptop

Step 1: Open your desktop and go to where you see no icons in the empty spot Right Click on the screen then you will see a Refresh POP Up Filed.

Step 2: Select Display Settings, then you will land on the display settings screen 

Step 3: Scroll down the screen and Click o Advanced Display Settings then advanced display screen is displayed on the screen 

Step 4: Scroll down the screen in the refresh rate section now you can change the refresh rate by clicking on drop down list, you may have refresh rates of well over 60hz such as 120 hz or even more if you want to increase your refresh rate then you will choose to increase the range.
