Solution 1 :- Change the Protocol 

Step 1: First, click “cancel” in the pop – up menu.

Step 2: Then click the protocol drop down menu.

Step 3: Select “HP jetdirect – socket”. 

Step 4: After that , click “ add” at the bottom- right corner of the screen.

Solution 2 :- Restart Your Mac and Printer 

Step 1: First, restart your mac.

Step 2: Then restart your printer ( turn off and then turn on).

Step 3: After that, add the printer to your mac.

Solution 3 :- Restart your Mac in Safe Mode 

If you are using a mac with intel processor : 

Step 1: First, shut down your mac via Apple menu > shutdown > shut down .

Step 2: Then press the power button/touch ID to turn on your mac.

Step 3: After pressing the power button/ touch ID , immediately hold down the shift key until the login window appears. While holding the shift key, the Apple logo will appear. But don’t leave the shift key when you see the apple logo. Keep holding it until the login window appears.

Step 4: If your mac is encrypted with filevault, you need to login twice.

Step 5: Then select your user account and enter the password.

Step 6: After that, click the apple icon at the top – left corner of the screen.

Step 7: Here select “ restart” under the apple menu.

Step 8: Again select “ restart” in the pop – up box to conform.

Step 9: Wait until your mac restarts and then add the printer.

If you are using mac with Apple Silicon :

Step 1: First, shut down your mac.

Step 2: After your mac shut down , wait for about 10 seconds.

Step 3: Then hold down the power button / touch ID until the startup options window appears. Now you can see available startup disks and options.

Step 4: Select your startup disk.

Step 5: Then  hold  down the shift key  and click  “ continue”. 

Step 6: Then click “ continue in safe mode”. 

Step 7: Now release the shift key.

Step 8: Wait until your mac restarts.

Step 9: Then restart your mac via Apple menu > restart > restart.
