If your iPhone is new, getting hot while charging is quite normal issue iphone users experience and its pretty easy to get rid of iPhone overheating issues by performing basic troubleshooting on your iPhone. So , wait for 1 or 2 weeks . After that the issue continues , take the steps to fix it.

Solution 1 : Force close apps

Force close apps before charging for your iphone

1. Swipe the screen up from the bottom and pause slightly in the middle of the screen.
2. There you can see recently closed apps .
3. Swipe all the apps up to close them forcely .

Solution 2 : Remove the back case and then charge iPhone

1. Disconnect your iphone from charging if it is connected .
2. Then remove the back case from your iphone .
3. Let your iphone cool down for few hours if it is hot.
4. Now charge your iphone and check whether it is getting hot .
5. Remember one thing that never use iphone while charging .

Solution 3 : Force restart your iphone

1. Quickly press and release the volume up button.
2. Quickly press and release the volume down button.
3. Hold down the slide button until the apple logo appears.

Solution 4 : Turn off “ WiFi”, “ cellular data”, “ Bluetooth”, and “ airdrop”

Turn off “ WiFi”, “ cellular data” , “Bluetooth” , and “ airdrop” while charging. Because , they always do some activities in the background and make your iphone hot.

Solution 5 : Check the charger

1. Check if their is any signs of damage in the charger. Sometimes, damaged charger will be the reason of overheating issues .
2. Make sure that you are using the charger that is apple certified .
3. Make sure that charging cable is well plugged into the USB power adapter .
4. Clean the charging port with toothbrush. Make sure that nothing is stuck in the charging port .
5. Try different apple certified chargers to charge your iphone. Because, the problem may be in charger.
6. You can try different wall power outlets to charge your iphone .
7. If you are using wireless charger, remove the back case and charge your iphone. If the issue still continues, change the USB power adapter .

Solution 6 : Turn off “ background app refresh”

1. Open settings app on your iphone .
2. Scroll down to “ general” and tap it .
3. Tap “ background app refresh”.
4. Again tap “ background app refresh”.
5. Select “ off” from the three options .
6. Then charge your iphone .

Solution 7 : Free up space

1. Sometimes, this issue will occur when your iphone storage is full. So, Delete all unwanted files and apps from your iphone to free up space.
2. Then restart your iphone.
3. Let your iphone cool down and then charge your iphone .
4. If your iphone is getting hot while using the specific app, uninstall that app.
