Different substances react different to magnetic substances the three type of magnetic substances i,e diamagnetic, paramagnetic, ferromagnetic substances react differently and material arises due to alignment of magnetic moments.
When we bring a piece of iron closer to magnet it gets attracted towards the magnet. Iron and steel are not the only substances which are attracted by a magnet or which can be magnetised.
There are 3 types of magnetic substances apart from magnetic substance which attract and there are different uses of temporary and permanent magnets and types as well apart from their magnetic substances and types.
The most of the materials are magnetic Michael Faraday an English physicist classified magnetic substances or materials into three classes namely with examples of magnetic substances:
Diamagnetic substances are those magnetic substances that are feebly repelled by a magnetic field like Bismuth, Lead, Mercury, Copper, Diamond, Gold, Silver and silicon are examples of Diamagnetic substances.
Diamagnetic materials have a weak, unhelpful weakness to magnetic fields and they do not retain the magnetic properties in the deficiency or absence of magnetic field.
If a led rod is suspended in a magnetic field it slowly sets itself at right angles to the direction of the field; the behavior of a diamagnetic substance is independent of temperature.
Paramagnetic substances are those substances which are attracted by a strong magnetic field. If an Aluminum rod is suspended in a magnetic field it slowly aligns itself along the direction of the magnetic field.
Aluminum is an example of paramagnetic substance and paramagnetic have low and small with positive susceptibility to magnetic field and they have some small unpaired electrons and they show some magnetic flash.
A paramagnetic substance when placed in a magnetic field is feebly magnetized in the direction of the magnetizing field. Temperature has an adverse effect on a paramagnetic substance, due to rise in temperature a paramagnetic tends to lose its magnetism.

Aluminum, Platinum, Chromium, magnesium, Tungsten and calcium are paramagnetic substances examples.
